Established in the 1930s, the Coggan Farming enterprise began near Inverell on a Merino sheep stud. The family moved to the current site, ‘Enarra’, in 1937, situated at Inglestone, between Westmar and Meandarra on Queensland’s Western Downs. Originally a belah and brigalow virgin block, Enarra has been successfully developed over five generations to incorporate cattle and lamb feedlots, irrigated and dryland farming, extensive grazing and a Meatmaster Stud.
Today, Coggan Farms is a leading force in the innovation and advancement of sustainable Australian cropping procedures. By implementing farming processes such as minimal till, modified farming equipment, and covering crops to assist in soil nutrition, Coggan Farms is a unique and powerful force in ethical farming.

Coggan Farms strongly supports research, development and conservation in agriculture, collaborating with peak body industries to aid in best practice innovation. For 40 years, Coggan Farms has been in partnership with Pioneer, Pacific Seeds, Aspru Agricultural Production, the Leslie Research Centre and the Department of Primary Industries conducting research into various fertiliser and planting methods.
“We have always made our home and farm available to enhance further research in the grains industry and have felt the information gathered has benefitted us as individuals and the industry as a whole,” Phillip Coggan says.
Over the past five generations, Coggan family members have served on the state wheat board, Agricultural Council, local council, GRDC advisory board, CFI board, and Partners in Grain.

BEEF
Coggan Farms currently supplies both local markets including Woolworths and Coles, and export markets. The Coggan family bred cattle are mixed with others from local Australian producers to create optimal beef breeders.

GRAIN
As pioneering wheat growers of the Westmar/Inglestone area and one of the first growers north-west of the Queensland/New South Wales border, the Coggan family has been a part of the evolution of grain growing in the region.

LAMB
Grown on the fertile lands of the Moonie River catchment in south-west Queensland, Coggan Farms meat sheep are produced with the support of high-quality, specialised genetic support and the latest technology and research.

Meatmaster
With a goal in mind to achieve full shedding capabilities, easy care animals, functionality and above all, Australian-standard prime lamb, Coggan Farms continued with the goal of the Meatmaster Stud.
